Ventana Sur: A well-seized opportunity with awards for the Peru delegation.
The Peru delegation received 4 awards in three different categories as part of Ventana Sur 2017. The Latin American film market came to a close on Friday 4 in Buenos Aires. It was jointly organized by Argentina’s Institute of Film and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and the Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film (Film Market) with the support of Europa Creativa.
The delegation highlighted the large number of important meetings with lots of different representatives of the audiovisual industry at the festival.
"Their achievements are our achievements. We have always supported Peruvian talent and these awards are proof that the audiovisual industry is moving in the right direction", said Mariela Soldi, director of Marca País (Country Brand) at Promperu, the organization responsible for promoting the country with regard to exports, tourism and image.
In the Trends category, the Virtuality Buenos Aires award was presented to a Peruvian video game designer, Unforgiven, for Stage 3: Azaria. The game, created for Windows and HTC tablets, allows players to enter the Hereogan Castle using the magician Azario to defeat the army of Eolica. The game is the fruit of a collaboration between Ramanand Purizaga, Guillermo Rossell, Andrés Revolledo, Vania Torres, Anthony Vega and Mauricio Torres. The award means that Unforgiven will have its own stand at Virtuality Buenos Aires in June 2018.
In the Animation category, the Peruvian co-producer Milton Guerrero received an award in the Series category for Las Aventuras Ugo and Serena La Ballena. The Project was co-produced by Red Animation Peru, Red Animation Brazil and Argentina’s El Perro en la Luna. The 2D animated series is the story of a friendship between a boy and a whale looking for the ocean.
In the First Cut category, the production company El Navegante Films received two awards for the film Todos Somos Marineros (We’re all Sailors) by Miguel Angel Moulet. The awards received were for audio and image postproduction. Todos Somos Marineros (We’re all Sailors) won the Ministry for Culture’s National Feature Projects Contest in 2015.
Peruvian companies that took part and did business at Ventana Sur 2017 include 7Samurai Films, Al este del plata, Alligator Entertainment, Argos Producciones, Cinecorp SAC, Ciudad Central, El Navegante Films, HDPERU, Lima Film Festival, Planta Madre Cine, PromPeru, Red Animation, Saltojo Films, Sapa Inti Studios, Shiwa, Soda Films, Tondero Producciones, Tunche Films y Via Expresa Cine Video.
The delegation held important meetings with more than 40 representatives of the audiovisual industry from around the world including the Cannes Film Festival-Marche du Film, Shoreline Entertainment, Film Sharks International, San Sebastián International Film Festival, Screen International and Variety, amongst others.
