A new Peruvian film will show the unique and rarely explored beauty of one of the country's most mysterious locations.
The COVID-19 pandemic marked a significant turning point in recent history. Building on this theme, renowned Peruvian actor and director Salvador del Solar is leading his new project, "Ramon," in collaboration with Tondero and "El Deseo," the production company of acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodovar.
Actors Dario Yazbek from Mexico, Alvaro Cervantes from Spain, and Emanuel Soriano from Peru star in this feature film. In the movie, Emanuel plays Ramon, a man trying to reconnect with his Peruvian roots after his father's death. Ramon and his father had a troubled relationship.

FROM LIMA TO MITO
The filming locations chosen were two districts of Lima: Miraflores and Los Olivos. Ramon currently lives in Miraflores, while scenes from the protagonist's childhood are set in Los Olivos.
Mito, a town in the province of Concepcion in the department of Junin, deserves special mention. This location was chosen because its traditions convey two themes that were deeply important to Ramon: forgiveness and redemption.
The protagonist returns to Mito during the Covid-19 lockdown to lay his father's ashes to rest, sparking a personal journey to reconcile with both his father and himself.
However, just when Ramon is on his way to his roots, he crosses paths with Mateo (Alvaro Cervantes), a Spaniard stuck in Peru due to the pandemic border closures. Together, they embark on a deeply moving journey.

LA HUACONADA
A crucial part of the Peruvian culture portrayed in “Ramon” is the celebration of La Huaconada. It does not just set the scene; it weaves through the storyline, guiding it along. This traditional dance embodies themes of punishment, depicted by the whipping, and forgiveness, symbolized by embraces. It also carries the mystical essence passed down from generation to generation.
It is important to note that the feature film includes some great additions. For instance, there is a workshop where you can see how the iconic Huaconada masks are made. This really helps you dive into the world of La Huaconada and appreciate the craftsmanship behind this vibrant celebration, which holds deep roots in Peruvian culture.
RAMON'S CULTURAL RICHNESS
The choice of Mito as a filming location for Ramon really stands out because it shows the country's diverse landscapes, traditions, and lifestyles.
Without a doubt, "Ramon" is becoming a film where the protagonist and the scenery blend together, creating a journey rich in symbolism, emotions, and redemption.
