Peruvian companies offer their specialized competitive to the international market
Peru participates in the 34th edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, which takes place from March 8 thru the 15. The Peruvian delegation is composed by the Directorate of Audiovisual, Phonography and New Media (DAFO) of the Ministry of Culture and the Peru Export and Tourism Promotion agency - PROMPERÚ, in addition to companies and professionals in the industry of content creation and production. The idea is to showcase the growth and evolution of the Peruvian film industry.
At the present edition of the festival, ‘Y Así Aparecieron los Ríos’ (And This is How Rivers Came to be) will be in competition in the Premio Rigo Mora category. The festival also welcomes ‘El Canto de las Mariposas’ (The Butterflies’ Song) in the DocuLab section, ‘Retablo’ (Altarpiece) will be featured a special screening of the Maguey Prize section, ‘Los Inocentes’ (The Inocents) will be featured in the Encuentros de Coproducción (Co-production encounters) and ‘Casos Complejos’ (Complex Cases) will be part of the Market Screenings selection.
Furthermore, Peru offers extraordinary and diverse locations. From its wide and beautiful coastline, arid deserts, Andean mountains to Amazonian rainforest, they all make Peru a location of infinite possibilities.
Peru also has a stand showcasing different initiatives that are being developed in the industry and film market. The Peruvian offers range from the rental of studios with state-of-the-art technology, film production houses with animation and virtual reality creation services, to any pre and post production services for the creation of audiovisual and digital contents.
Over the years, productions have been made in Peru that cover all genres (romantic comedies, musicals, art-house films, animation and drama). Among them the Peruvian feature film ‘Wiñaypacha’ from director Óscar Catacora, was awarded a "Best Opera Prima" in the last edition of the festival, in addition to the premio FEISAL (Federation of Schools of the Image and Sound of America) to “Best Direction”, which is given to directors 35 years old and younger.
