Movie filmed in Puno will be released on 19 April.
Puno. A release date has been confirmed for the acclaimed film Wiñaypacha from Puno filmmaker Oscar Catacora, shown last year at the 21st Lima Film Festival. The film hits cinemas around the country on 19 April.
Despite limited national distribution, the film will hit cinemas in Puno and Juliaca as the movie was filmed in the Altiplana Region.
As previously mentioned, the work by Oscar Catacora won the Ministry of Culture’s feature film project contest in 2013, which is what enabled it to be made.
Wiñaypacha was shown a few days ago at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (GIFF) in Mexico and was shown in other Latin American film festivals months before.
Synopsis: The film tells the story of Willka and Phaxsi, a couple both aged over 80, who live abandoned in a remote part of the Peruvian Andes, five thousand meters above sea level. They deal with sadness and the unstoppable passing of time, asking their gods for their only son to come and rescue them.
