Peru will show its cinema and destinations as a guest of honor at the 26th Malaga Film Festival
Peruvian cinema and its incredible destinations will be the guests of honor at the 26th Malaga Film Festival in Spain, which will be held from March 10 to 19. Our country will be the protagonist of the Latin American Focus of MAFIZ (Malaga Festival Industry Zone), where all the national talent, its growth and the possibilities of collaboration with the industry will be shown.
In addition, on March 15, the Peruvian delegation, which will be made up of directors, authorities and representatives of institutions, will receive the Silver Biznaga, the most important award given during this event.
Finally, during this edition of the festival, a panoramic view of the Peruvian territory will be offered with a sample of recent films and two world premieres: The Monroy Case (El caso Monroy) by Josué Méndez; and Diogenes, Leonardo Barbuy's debut film, which is a co-production with Colombia and France; as well as Hipocampo, a short film by Víctor Ibazeta in the Official Section.
Filming scenario
National destinations are so impressive that for several decades they have been used as scenery in different productions around the world. During the 26th Malaga Film Festival, these tourist attractions can be exhibited, which have attracted the attention of different filmmakers, such as Steven Caple Jr., who is in charge of the movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Peruvian cinema in Malaga
The Malaga Festival has programmed Moon Heart, by Aldo Salvini (2021), Drag Invasion, by Alberto Castro (2020); and A World for Julius, by Rossana Díaz-Costa (2021), in the Focus Peru cycle, which will show the diversity and vitality of Peruvian cinematography.

- The official delegation will also visit the different sections of the MAFIZ with their projects in development and post-production, and will also participate in training spaces such as the Malaga Talent, the Hack MAFIZ and the Warmi Lab, a residence for women filmmakers from various regions of Peru.
- The 4EBER projects by Ximena Valdivia (Montaña Rosa Films), Gloria by Sairah Josefina Choque (Llamkaq Warm Cine), The other shore (La otra orilla) by Francesca Canepa (Splitfilms), and Kipi Mission (Misión Kipi) by Sonaly Tuesta (Ayni Producciones) will be presented at MAFF.
- Meanwhile Aida by Alejandra Gómez (Conteo Regresivo Films) at MAFF Women Screen Industry; General States (Estados Generales) by Mauricio Freyre (Estudio Rien, Tasio) and Punku by Juan Daniel Fernández Molero (Tiempo Libre) in Malaga WIP Ibero-America. Nazaret Patricia Sánchez Vega will participate in Malaga Talent and Katya Zevallos Ynmenos in Hack Malaga.
