Peru, an important destination for film locations
A film paradise! The Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERU) presented at The DGA Theater Complex - Los Angeles the Film in Peru strategy, which aims to promote our country internationally as a privileged destination for the filming of all types of audiovisual content.
During the event, the country was highlighted as an attractive destination for the film industry, offering an integral experience through professional talent, diversity of destinations and related services. The meeting, which was also attended by agents of the film and audiovisual industry, highlighted the active participation of PROMPERU as a liaison office to provide support and guidance to national and international production companies. Currently, the promoting entity is recognized by the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI).
It is worth mentioning that the Commercial Office Abroad (OCEX Los Angeles), led by Conrado Falco, played an essential role in the development of this activity, and thanks to his efforts, the Peruvian delegation traveled to the studios in the Peru brand bus, touring the streets of the city of Los Angeles.
Film experiences in Peru
As part of the program, two successful cases of filming in Peru were presented. The producer of APU Productions, Bruno Canale, presented his experience in the filming of the movie "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" (Paramount Pictures). Tondero's CEO, Miguel Valladares, did the same by describing the experience of filming the series "La Reina del Sur (The Queen of the South) Season 3" (Telemundo/Netflix).
Meetings were also held with U.S. film studios thanks to the support of the Motion Picture Association (MPA), where opportunities for filming in our country were presented, strengthening ties and learning about possible future projects of these studios.
Currently, the entity participates in the "Executive Board for the promotion of Peru as a film location destination", which seeks to promote the creation of the Peruvian Film Commission and establish economic incentives to increase the arrival of important international productions to the country.
In the last 5 years, Film in Peru has supported more than 20 audiovisual productions, including the movie "Dora and the Lost City of Gold", the series: "Magical Andes", the movie "Don't Look Up", the movie "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts", the series "La Reina del Sur Season 3", the movie "Paddington in Peru", among others.
