Lima Art Museum

The Lima Art Museum, also known as MALI, is one of the main art venues in Peru and is located in the historic Palacio de la Exposición, built expressly for exhibition purposes and an example of Lima's beautiful eclectic architecture. It was built as the venue for the first major public exhibition in Peru, which was held as part of the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of its independence.

It has a total area of 4500 m², consisting of permanent and temporary exhibition halls, which house impressive collections. The environments that make up the permanent exhibition are those of pre-Columbian art, textiles, colonial art, silverware, republican art, folk art, twentieth century, photography and contemporary art. This exhibition presents more than 1,200 pieces from a collection of more than 17,000 works that narrate 3,000 years of Peruvian art history.

In addition, this precinct also offers courses in plastic arts, corporal expression, guitar, aerobics and dance for children and adults. It also has a film library and cafeteria.
