The ancestral Kuelap stands majestic in Amazonas, exhibiting the Chachapoya construction genius.

An impressive fortress that dates back to the 11th century -approximately- and is located at 3000 meters above sea level. It is the archaeological complex of Kuélap, an architectural jewel built by the inhabitants of ancient Peru and that stands out for the perfection of its finishes, the monumental size of its buildings and how complex it was (yes, past time) to access it.

Kuelap is located in the province of Luya, one of the seven that make up the Amazon region. The northeastern Andes were the location chosen by the members of the Chachapoyas culture, who were responsible for the construction of this enigmatic city, which has administrative, religious, ceremonial and even residential spaces. It could be said that it was a city, strategically located and guarded by great walls, but at the same time surrounded by a dense nature and beautiful landscapes, worthy of photographs.

How to obtain filming authorization?

In order to film in the Kuelap Archaeological Zone, a request must be submitted to the Dirección Desconcentrada de Amazonas signed by the producer responsible for the filming and/or photographic session. This document must include detailed information about the project, the name and description of the production company responsible, details about the work route including the precise filming locations (it is recommended to attach photographs or a sketch of the place), the dates and times of filming, the list of personnel with names, data and positions, as well as the filming equipment to be used. In addition, other information relevant to the project can be added.
