The Historic Center of Arequipa: the starting point for great adventures.
One of the favorite destinations in southern Peru is the region of Arequipa. The reason? Its countless attractions to visit, such as the beautiful Colca Valley that holds the imposing Colca Canyon; or its varied gastronomic offer, with an impressive variety of dishes: a short trip would not be enough to taste that extensive and delicious menu, with dishes inherited from their ancestors.
However, there is a meeting point in the city of Arequipa, where the greatest adventures usually begin. It is its Historic Center, which has a varied hotel offer with spaces equipped for the most demanding standards of comfort, besides being the epicenter of the best and most iconic picanterías (restaurants with regional dishes), ceramic, art and textile stores, where the garments made of alpaca stand out.
The Historic Center of the city of Arequipa has been considered a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2000. In this beautiful space, the prestigious and striking colonial architecture -with more than 500 large houses around it as the best example- is combined with the characteristic Arequipa architectural finishes made on the basis of sillar (a white stone, derived from volcanic rock) to dazzle you from the first moment you walk through its streets and you can appreciate this art in first person.
